The StrataGist Manifesto

Your context.
Your canvas.
Your machine.

StrataGist is local-first and user-extensible - by conviction, not by accident. This is what we believe, and how to tell if it is for you.

Your machine.

Your thoughts live in your browser, on your device, by default. No account is required to think. The cloud is a convenience you opt into, never a toll you pay to enter. Software that holds your mind hostage is not a tool; it is a landlord.

Your context.

Nobody else knows the shape of your work. So we don't ship one rigid app and call it discipline. You build the context (the gists, the screens, the rituals) and remix anyone else's in one click. The system bends to you, not the other way around.

Your canvas.

A plan is not a list; it is a space you can see. Everything is one canvas you can zoom from a single day out to a whole life, and back. Structure should be visible, not buried in folders you forget you made.

The system comes to you.

We will not gamify your guilt. The daily ritual is a gentle cue with a forgiving streak and a freeze net: habit without shame. Miss a day; the chain holds. Come back; we celebrate that you did. Showing up is the whole practice.

Deterministic by default.

AI is off unless you turn it on. The core loop (capture, surface, do, review) is plain, predictable code you can trust at 2am. Magic you cannot inspect is just a bug you haven't met yet.

Extensible is the point.

The deepest moat is the work you do inside the tool, and the contexts you share with people who think like you. We'd rather be the substrate you build on than the box you outgrow.

If you want a tool that owns your attention, sells your data, and decides what your work should look like - there are many. This is not one of them. If you want a place that is genuinely yours, welcome.
